Policies & expectations
No surprises, by design
We keep things straightforward so there are no surprises. The policies below help us protect your property, operate safely, and provide reliable service to every customer.
Reservation and scheduling
Reserve as early as you can. Right now every reservation is a waitlist entry and we confirm your window directly — submitting the form starts the conversation, it doesn't lock a date.
You don't need to be home for drop-off or pickup. Just make sure the spot is clear and we have a text-good number in case the driver has a question.
Single-Item Pickup — what it is and isn't
Inside or out. Single-Item Pickup covers single items and small loads in the driveway, garage, curbside, or inside the home — including bedrooms, basements, and upstairs rooms. The flat price is the same wherever the item is.
Tell us about the access. If the item is inside, the booking form asks which floor it's on, the stairs, and anything tight (a narrow hallway or sharp turn) so we bring the right help and equipment.
Your items must be ready when we arrive — where you told us, with a clear path, and matching what you selected online.
Accurate item selection matters. Your flat price is based on the item type, quantity, and location you select. Oversized, unusually heavy, inaccessible, or materially different items than what was selected may require an adjusted price, additional charge, or refusal of the pickup at the scheduled time.
Hazardous and prohibited materials remain excluded from Single-Item Pickup, same as every other Chastain Haulers service — see "What you can and can't load" below.
Tires are not accepted at this time. Same rule as the rest of the site — we can add them later if tire-carrier/exemption compliance is separately cleared.
Frequently asked questions
Do I tow the trailer myself? Yes. Standard trailer rentals are customer-towed. Your vehicle must be properly rated and equipped — see "What vehicle do I need?" below.
Do you take the trailer to the dump for me? Not with our current trailer-rental service. Customers are responsible for unloading/disposal and returning the trailer. Our self-load haul-away service is planned for 2027.
How do I pay for the trailer rental? Once your rental request is approved, we create your reservation through Neighbors Trailer. You then complete verification and payment securely through their platform.
Can you deliver the trailer to me? Standard rentals emphasize customer pickup. Delivery may be available by request, subject to location, scheduling, pricing, and approval — it isn't available everywhere.
What vehicle do I need? Your vehicle must have sufficient manufacturer-rated towing capacity and appropriate towing equipment: the correct hitch setup, a functioning 7-pin connection, and a trailer brake controller.
Do you deliver mulch/gravel/stone? Yes. We offer small-load material delivery. Quantities depend on material weight, truck payload, and delivery conditions — see Material Delivery.
Do you offer junk removal? Yes. For full-service junk removal, send photos and we'll give you a quote. For a single item or small load, inside the home or out, Single-Item Pickup has flat prices you can see online.
Who owns the contents? (Self-Load Haul-Away, planned for 2027) This question applies to the future Self-Load Haul-Away service, not the current customer-towed rental. Under that future model: you remain responsible for everything placed in the trailer while you are loading it. When Chastain Haulers returns for retrieval, we inspect the load and accept approved contents. Once accepted, and before transportation begins, ownership of those accepted contents transfers to Chastain Haulers. We then determine their lawful disposal, recycling, recovery, or other disposition. Prohibited or rejected items remain the customer's responsibility.
Cancellation, Refund & Rescheduling
Dump Trailer Rental: once your request is approved, your reservation, payment, and any cancellation or rescheduling are handled through Neighbors Trailer, under their terms — not the schedule below.
Small-Load Pickup and Self-Load Haul-Away are not currently bookable (Small-Load Pickup is coming soon; Self-Load Haul-Away is planned for 2027), so no payment is collected and there is nothing to cancel today. The tiered schedule below is preserved from that prior model for when it's reactivated:
- 48+ hours before service: 100% refund
- 24–48 hours before service: 75% refund
- Less than 24 hours: No refund
- One free reschedule: With at least 24 hours' notice, subject to availability
- Early pickup: No prorated refund
- If Chastain cancels: Full refund or complimentary reschedule
Self-Load Haul-Away — planned for 2027 (not currently available)
The section below describes our previous stationary-trailer / haul-away model, preserved here for reference. It is not currently bookable — see "Dump Trailer Rental" above for what's available now.
We deliver an empty trailer to your approved location and leave it there for your service period. You load it yourself, at your own pace — the trailer stays put and must not be moved, relocated, hitched, or towed by the customer. Only Chastain Haulers may move or tow the trailer. When your service period ends, we return, inspect and accept the approved contents, reconnect the trailer, and take it from there — you never make a dump run yourself. See "Who owns the contents?" in the FAQ above.
Driveways are ideal — we put pads down to protect the surface and photograph the placement. Street placement may require a permit from your city; that's the customer's responsibility.
A compact dump trailer is about 10.7 cubic yards: a 12 ft × 6 ft floor with 4 ft sides. It fits where a 20-yard roll-off won't.
Delivery and pickup happen in 2–3 hour time slots. You pick the delivery window; the pickup window is the first one that opens a full service period (24 hours per day booked) after delivery, and we confirm it with you when we schedule.
Need more days? Approved additional days are $50/day. Extensions are not automatic — the trailer may already be booked for someone else after your pickup, and must be requested and approved before your scheduled pickup. Loading past your scheduled pickup without an approved extension is an unauthorized holdover, not an automatic extension.
Trailer Placement & Maximum Load
Maximum load: 5,000 lb (2.5 tons). Loads may not exceed this limit — it is the maximum permitted customer load, not merely an included allowance. There is no per-ton or overage charge; disposal up to this limit is included in your flat price.
The trailer must remain at the approved drop-off location for the entire service period. The customer is not permitted to tow, move, relocate, hitch, or operate the trailer — only Chastain Haulers may do so. The customer is responsible for loading the trailer appropriately and distributing material safely and evenly.
Load the trailer in a reasonably even, balanced way — side to side and front to rear, not concentrated in one spot. Dense or heavy material must stay low and not be piled in one area. Follow any loading zones, fill lines, or weight-distribution markings posted on the trailer.
If a load appears unsafe, unevenly distributed, concentrated, or overweight at the scheduled pickup, Chastain Haulers may require the material to be removed, spread, or repositioned before transport; a failed-pickup fee may apply if the load isn't ready when we arrive.
Contractual remedies for an overweight or unsafe load, and for a trailer that cannot be safely retrieved, are being finalized with attorney review.
What you can and can't load
You control what goes in the trailer while it's at your property, and you're responsible for loading appropriately and within the weight limit. Chastain Haulers handles transport and disposal of approved material once the trailer is picked up.
Generally accepted — subject to facility acceptance, the fill line, and the 5,000-lb limit: household cleanout debris, furniture, wood, ordinary renovation/remodel debris, and approved yard debris.
Concrete, concrete block, brick, pavers, and masonry rubble require advance approval and are limited to 1 cubic yard combined per load — if you're loading more than one of these, their combined volume can't exceed 1 cubic yard. This is a safety/weight-control limit, not a fee: there's no charge for approved masonry within this limit, and it can't be paid for or waived to load more. We're adding a marked loading area for these materials on the trailer itself; until then, we'll confirm the limit with you directly. Spread this material across the loading area — don't pile it at the front, rear, or on one side.
Advance approval required (because of density, not a fee): dirt/soil, rock/stone, gravel, asphalt, roofing material, and other unusually dense or concentrated material not listed above. Quantity for these is approved case by case, based on the material, its density, and the quantity requested. There's no separate charge for these — approval simply lets us control quantity and loading so the 5,000-lb maximum isn't exceeded.
Advance approval of a dense material or quantity does not permit you to exceed the 5,000-lb maximum or any posted loading or distribution restriction. If you're planning to bring concrete, brick, pavers, masonry, dirt, rock, gravel, asphalt, roofing material, or other unusually dense material, let us know before you book so we can confirm the approved quantity first.
Additional fee / pre-approval required: paint, propane tanks, mattresses, box springs, and refrigerant-containing appliances where applicable, and other materials that carry a separate disposal charge at our facility. Contact us before loading any of these so we can confirm the fee and facility acceptance.
Do not load (prohibited): hazardous materials, chemicals, solvents, oil, asbestos, medical or biohazard waste, ammunition or explosives, loose batteries and batteries presented for disposal as separate items, and any other compressed-gas, flammable, or pressurized container not listed above as pre-approvable. An item in that last category is never accepted unless we specifically approve that exact item in advance and our disposal facility confirms it will accept it — it's never a standing option. This doesn't prohibit an ordinary appliance or electronic item just because it contains a small integrated battery.
Tires are not accepted at this time. We can add them later if tire-carrier/exemption compliance is separately cleared. This applies to Small-Load Pickup as well.
The fill line
A line is painted around the top of the trailer walls, visible from the driveway. Do not load above it — an overloaded trailer can't be safely transported.
Dense materials like concrete, brick, tile, and stone reach the weight limit while the trailer still looks nearly empty — keep those loads shallow, and see "What you can and can't load" above for which dense materials need our advance approval first. There is no extra fee for dense or heavy loads within the 5,000-lb limit; the weight limit is the only constraint.
Fees and add-on charges
| Item | Charge |
|---|---|
| Failed pickup (trailer inaccessible or not ready for pickup at the scheduled slot) | $100 |
| Relocating the trailer on site | $75 |
| Approved additional days | $50 / day — subject to availability |
| Unauthorized holdover (trailer kept past the scheduled pickup without an approved extension) | $75 / day |
Extending a service period is not automatic and does not happen just because loading continues past the scheduled pickup. The trailer may be booked for another customer after your scheduled pickup, so contact us before your pickup slot to request more days — we'll confirm whether they're available. Additional days are billed at $50/day only when we approve the extension in advance.
No routine dump or tonnage fees, no fuel surcharges, no environmental fees, no zone fees, and no weight-based charges within the 5,000-lb limit.
Service area policy
We serve a defined local area — the North Fulton and East Cobb corridor, out to Barrett Parkway. Enter your address on the reservation form and we'll confirm you're in range before anything is scheduled.
Requests outside the service area are reviewed individually and may be declined. We do not quote a distance premium or automatically upcharge out-of-area jobs. See Service Area for the full list.
Material delivery
Materials ordered through Chastain Haulers are sold by Chastain and delivered as Chastain-owned inventory. This is small-load delivery, ideal for smaller projects that don't require a full dump-truck load — final quantity is confirmed per order based on the material's weight and available truck payload. Some particularly dense materials may be limited to smaller quantities — we'll flag that during booking.
Material color, size, and appearance can vary naturally between batches. Published delivered pricing includes delivery within our standard service area. See Material Delivery for available products and quantities.
Weather and safety delays
We may reschedule a drop-off or pickup when conditions make it unsafe — ice, heavy rain that would leave ruts, or an access path we can't work safely. If that happens we'll reach out and reset the window; there's no charge for a weather reschedule.
